Merrick-Moore has always been a neighborhood full of history, pride, and resilience, and now, that story is beautifully told through a brand-new art installation at Merrick-Moore Park. Created by artists Aaron Early and Jeannette Brossart, this sculpture isn’t just a piece of art; it’s a celebration of the legacy and spirit of the Merrick-Moore community.

Art That Connects Community and History

The sculpture is a tribute to the strength, pride, and resilience of the Merrick-Moore community. But what makes this installation even more meaningful is how it came to life—not just for the community, but with the community.

Aaron and Jeannette collaborated closely with MMCDC’s Executive Director, Bonita Green, and Merrick-Moore residents to ensure that the artwork accurately represents the neighborhood. They made sure the community’s voice was part of the creative process.

To bring their vision to life, Aaron and Jeannette joined a Merrick-Moore community meeting, where residents had the opportunity to get involved. Together, they helped install the mosaics that now adorn the sculpture, turning it into a piece of art that’s shaped by the people who live in Merrick-Moore.

A Lasting Symbol at Merrick-Moore Park

Now standing proudly at Merrick-Moore Park, this installation serves as a lasting symbol of the community’s resilience and the strength of its people. It honors the history of Merrick-Moore while looking toward a future that continues to be shaped by the collective efforts of its residents.

MMCDC is honored to have been part of this fantastic project, and we’re incredibly grateful to Aaron, Jeannette, and all the community members who contributed. If you haven’t yet, be sure to visit Merrick-Moore Park and experience the artwork for yourself—a true testament to the power of art, community, and history.
